Glutathione: A Holistic Ingredient for Skin

There is a seemingly endless amount of skincare products that promise all sorts of benefits. But it’s no secret that what we see on our skin is heavily influenced by our internal health. So unless skincare products also contribute to overall wellness, there’s only so much they can do. That’s why skincare enthusiasts are increasingly turning to glutathione (GSH) as a holistic treatment for problems on and under the skin.

Glutathione in the Body

Glutathione is present in every part of our bodies, where it works as a potent detoxifier and protector of cellular function. Often called the “mother” or “master” antioxidant, it can recycle other antioxidants like Vitamin C, ensuring we get the most out of them. This is important since antioxidants are crucial for protecting us from the harmful effects of free radicals.

Free radicals are a byproduct of reactions in our cells, particularly when they are damaged by injury or illness. If we build up too many free radicals, they can damage cells’ DNA and proteins, a process we call oxidative stress. High levels of oxidative stress are linked to signs of aging, chronic inflammation, and many diseases in addition to skin issues.

Antioxidants combat this by disarming free radicals so that they can be safely processed out of the body. Since it boosts other antioxidants and fights free radicals itself, glutathione is crucial for preventing and treating oxidative stress, leading to better health overall.

Glutathione for Skin

Research shows high oxidative stress and low GSH are linked to a variety of skin issues like: acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, age spots, blemishes, sunspots, redness, inflammation, wrinkles, and fine lines. On the other hand, studies indicate that GSH supplements can help control symptoms and create significant improvements in how our skin looks and feels.

In one case, for example, psoriasis patients who took amino acid supplements along with their existing treatments all saw a reduction in symptoms. Glutathione also blocks some activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme that triggers melanin, making it an effective method of lightening darker skin spots and evening skin tone.

Because it protects cellular DNA, GSH also promotes cell turnover and helps heal skin damage from UV rays, environmental toxins, and aging processes. Oxidative stress is closely tied to signs of skin aging, like wrinkles and sagginess. But with plenty of glutathione, our skin is better able to regenerate and maintain as much elasticity, firmness, and plumpness as possible.

Getting More Glutathione

Getting more glutathione for skin is easy so long as you use a transdermal nano-glutathione product. These types of products effectively reduce the glutathione molecule into a smaller form that can pass through the skin barrier to create a highly absorbable form of GSH. This means the glutathione can penetrate deep into skin tissues to detoxify and repair cells, and facilitate cellular regeneration for healthier, brighter and more radiant skin.

The Auro Skincare Protocol WAKE and REST creams are formulated with the most advanced nano-glutathione on the market as well as trusted skincare ingredients like Vitamins E and C to provide a whole skincare package. Auro also offers an Auro GSH Spray for targeted skincare treatment.

No matter which you choose, Auro’s supplements will ensure you get the full benefits of glutathione as a holistic approach to maintaining both your skin’s appearance and your health.
