Pilot Study Finds that Glutaryl Improves Immune Function

The Study

The results of a recent pilot study titled “Topical Absorption of Glutathione–Cyclodextrin Nanoparticle Complex in Healthy Human Subjects Improves Immune Response against Mycobacterium avium Infection” show that regular application to the skin of Glutaryl is a safe and effective way to balance the free radicals that can lead to illness and sickness.*

How the study was performed:

• Healthy participants were divided into two groups: one received topical GSH-CD complex (Glutaryl), and the other received a placebo. 
• Four sprays of the GSH-CD complex were applied two times daily on the participants’ abdomen for three days. 
• Blood samples were collected from the participants before application and at 1, 4, and 72 hours after the initial topical application.
• The processed blood samples were then analyzed to assess the levels of GSH, malondialdehyde (MDA), and cytokines. Additionally, whole blood cultures from the participants were exposed to Mycobacterium avium (M. avium) infection in vitro to evaluate the mycobacterium survival rate after treatment.

The results 

The study showed that the GSH-CD complex (Glutaryl) on the skin positively increased Glutathione levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and red blood cells while decreasing MDA levels in PBMCs 72 hours after treatment. MDA is a marker used to measure oxidative stress.  There was also an increase in plasma levels of IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-12p70, and TNF-α, which are cytokines involved in immune responses. Enhanced clearance of mycobacterium was also observed after the topical Glutathione treatment.*
