Glutathione and Vitamin C: A Powerful Duo for Skincare

Just like glutathione (GSH), Vitamin C is an important nutrient for overall wellness. And also like glutathione, Vitamin C is becoming a staple in the skin care world. In fact, these antioxidants work together to protect the body and keep skin looking radiant!

How the Body Uses Vitamin C

While most people recognize it as an ally for the immune system, preventing colds is only part of Vitamin C’s important work. As the Mayo Clinic puts it:

“[Vitamin C is] a nutrient your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body’s healing process.”

As an antioxidant, Vitamin C has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with its ability to promote collagen production, this encourages skin cell turnover and reduces wrinkles and hyperpigmentation from UV exposure. Hence the growing demand for Vitamin C in skin products!

Our bodies can’t make Vitamin C on their own, so we absorb it from foods like red and green peppers, broccoli, brussels sprouts, strawberries, grapefruit, papaya, oranges, cantaloupe, and tangerine. Once processed, Vitamin C goes to work building tissues, disarming harmful free radicals, and boosting skin performance and appearance.

How Vitamin C Works with Glutathione

As our cells carry out their functions, they generate free radicals: highly reactive molecules that travel around the body and look for cells to attach to. When too many free radicals accumulate, they can damage cell DNA, a process called oxidative stress. High levels of oxidative stress have been linked to a variety of health issues from general fatigue to skin problems to serious diseases like cancer, Parkinson’s, and autoimmune disorders.

Vitamin C and glutathione team up with other antioxidants to limit oxidative stress by disarming free radicals before they can damage cells. Glutathione can recycle spent Vitamin C so that we get the most out of our supply. Meanwhile, eating foods rich in Vitamin C gives your body some of the building blocks of glutathione. One study, for example, shows that increasing Vitamin C led to an increase in GSH in red blood cells (Glutathione Revolution, Chapter 8).

How to Get More Glutathione and Vitamin C for Your Skin

Since Vitamin C and glutathione offer a number of benefits for skincare, most people want to know how they can increase their intake of these vital antioxidants. The most basic way to up your levels of glutathione (GSH) and Vitamin C is to enjoy a diet rich in these nutrients. Another option is to take an oral supplement. However, both of these methods are not necessarily very effective for skincare.

Rather, the best way to get more of these substances for your skin is to use a specially formulated skincare product with sub-nanotechnology delivery. Sub-nanotechnology delivery offers the most absorbable forms of glutathione and Vitamin C to ensure these nutrients penetrate below the skin barrier where they can have the most impact on cellular repair and regeneration.

Only one company, Auro Skincare, offers skincare with glutathione and Vitamin C sub-nanotechnology delivery. Auro’s patented skincare protocol formulas safely and efficiently increase GSH and Vitamin C levels to fight signs of aging, improve skin health, and activate the body’s innate healing abilities.
