Pilot Study Proves Efficacy of Glutaryl Topical Glutathione Supplementation
The study, titled “Topical Absorption of Glutathione–Cyclodextrin Nanoparticle Complex in Healthy Human Subjects Improves Immune Response against Mycobacterium avium Infection,” was conducted to determine whether topical supplement Glutaryl could protect cells from damage. The study measured if Glutaryl can help fight infections caused by Mycobacterium bacteria. The test was conducted by having healthy people apply topical Glutathione Glutaryl over three days while another healthy group used a placebo – or fake treatment. Blood samples were taken on all participants before and after.
The test determined that the blood from the people who did use Glutaryl was better at getting rid of the mycobacterium bacteria, and it increased the levels of Glutathione in certain types of blood cells and decreased a marker of cell damage (MDA) within 72 hours. Those using Glutathione also had increased levels of some immune system chemicals in the blood. These proven therapeutic effects for immunity using topical Glutaryl show its effectiveness.
On the contrary, in a study of IV supplementations, results have found that none of the Glutathione ended up in the red blood cells (RBC), and all of it stayed in the liquid part of the blood (plasma). They also noticed that the effects of the Glutathione in the blood only lasted for a short time, around 14.1 minutes +/- 9 minutes.
Oral supplementation of Glutathione is unproven as well. A clinical trial of Glutathione with oral supplements showed an increase only in the plasma and no increase in the red blood cells (RBCs), questioning the impact of oral supplementation as it can be broken down during delivery, thus reducing potency.
